The General Warm-Up is our chance to prepare our bodies (and minds) for physicality. We are elevating our heart-rate, increasing our respiration rate, and waking up our muscles and joints with low skill requirement movements.
This is the second phase of our warm-up, where we transition into slightly more technical movements with an increasing amount of fine motor skills needed. The movements incorporated during this phase will mimic the muscle recruitment needed for the later segments of class.
Now that we are breathing hard and starting to sweat, we slow things down and work on flexibility and mobility in order to ensure we can achieve safe and efficient movement patterns when we begin to increase intensity during the workout.
